Jae Sung-Yong Dae clinch third home title

South Korea’s Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae won the battle of champions 21-6, 21-10 to win the VICTOR Korea Open Superseries Premier in Seoul on Sunday, the third time they have won their home tournament.
Jung Jae Sung celebrates with fansJae Sung-Yong Dae had won this title in 2007 and last year while Sunday’s opponents were 2009 champions Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen.
The home favourites began the match by throwing some souvenirs to the crowd and ended it by throwing their racquets and T-shirts to their adoring fans after destroying the world No. 1s in the first OSIM BWF World Superseries Premier tournament.
The first game was one-way traffic as the Koreans, fired up by the partisan crowd, started like a run away train, taking the first five points before the Danes got on board by winning the next two points.
However, Jae Sung-Yong Dae then won six straight points to go into the half-game interval 11-2 ahead after just six minutes and never looked like relinquishing their lead. They need only another seven minutes to wrap up the match as the won 21-6 in a surprisingly lop sided game.
The second game was much closer with the Danes more aggressive from the start. They took the lead for the first time at 2-1 and continued to lead until 8-5 when the local favourites with Yong Dae’s smashes finding their mark, drew level at 9-9 before taking going into the half-game interval 11-10 up.
They continued to dominate and reeled off another seven points to lead 18-10. The Danes only managed another three points before the South Koreans clinched their third Korea Open crown in 33 minutes. Jae Sung-Yong Dae took home US$94,800 while the runners-up prize was worth US$45,600.
It was sweet revenge for the South Koreans, who had lost the VICTOR BWF Super Series Finals doubles gold to the Europeans earlier this year.

“The support was great and it feels good to retain the title,” said Jae Sung.
Yong Dae added: “We thought it would be a tough match but you guys (fans) made it easy for us. We hope to see you all here again for the 2012 Korea Open.”
