Sweet revenge for Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang

A week ago, Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang had to watch as Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei walk away with the PROTON Malaysia Open Superseries title. The defeat fired them up and they delivered on Sunday by winning the VICTOR BWF Korea Open Superseries Premier crown by defeating the same opponents.
Final Wang Xiaoli-Yu YangIn the process, the winning duo took home US$94,800, the richest cheque in badminton. The VICTOR Korea Open is the first of the OSIM BWF World Superseries Premier tournament and offers US$1.2 million, the most in badminton history. Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei had to be content with a cheque for US$45,600.
In the first of three all-Chinese finals, Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang (left) were a class above Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei, who were playing in their match this week – they are also in the mixed doubles finals, albeit with different partners. Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang won 21-18, 19-21, 21-4 in match lasting 66 minutes.
The other two all-Chinese finals will see Tao-Tian Qing taking on Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei in the mixed doubles while in another repeat of the KL final will see Wang Yihan facing Wang Shixian.
It was a golden debut for Wang Xiaoli, who had never played in the Korea Open before this tournament but the third title for Yu Yang in the South Korea title after winning the mixed doubles with He Hanbin last year and the women’s doubles in 2008 with Du Jing.
