Top players confirmed for VICTOR BWF Super Series Finals 2010

An explosive battle is on the cards as all the World No 1s, with the exception of Wang Xin in the women’s singles, have confirmed their participation in the season ending VICTOR BWF Super Series Finals in Taipei.
The Finals will be played in Chinese Taipei from 5 to 9 January 2011.
World champions Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng have also confirmed their participation in the USD500,000 total prize money event reserved for the top eight players/pairs in the Super Series Standings in 2010. yihan-final-rotator
India’s Saina Nehwal, winner of three Super Series titles this year, is the only player to decline the invitation due to injury.
But the stage is set for an exciting feast of badminton at the Hsinchuang Gymnasium in Taipei.
“The BWF is delighted with the response from the players and we would like to thank all the Member Associations and the players for their strong support to the Finals,” said Badminton World Federation (BWF) Deputy President Paisan Rangsikitpho.
“The players are the actors and the Finals is about them. As such, we are happy that the Finals has attracted such a strong cast of players and we look forward to some amazing badminton in Taipei.”
BWF Chief Operating Officer Thomas Lund echoed Paisan’s sentiments and added that the strong response was testimony to the growing popularity and strength of the Super Series as a brand.
“We are very encouraged with the response and this augurs well for the future of our sport,” said Lund.
“The players have battled hard throughout the year and it is fitting finale to the season to assemble players of such quality.
“I would also like to record our appreciation to the title sponsors, VICTOR and our hosts for the event, the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association for agreeing to host the event.”
The VICTOR-BWF Superseries Finals is the climax of the 12-leg BWF Superseries circuit and is limited to a maximum of two players and/or pairs per Member Association.
Lee Chong Wei, the men’s singles World No 1, will be joined by 2010 World Championships silver medallist Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia, European champion Peter Gade from Denmark, Denmark Open champion Jan Jorgensen and the vastly improved Chen Long, heir apparent to three-time world champion Lin Dan.
