Denmark’s  Thomas Laybourn and Indonesia’s Hendra Setiawan were forced to withdraw  from the Victor BWF Superseries Finals 2010 after suffering knee  injuries on Thursday.
Laybourn, who  partnered Kamilla Rytter Juhl to victory over England’s Nathan  Robertson-Jenny Wallwork on the opening day of the tournament on  Wednesday, injured his left knee before the start of his mixed doubles  match against Thailand’s Songphon Anugritayawan-Kunchala  Voravichitchaikul. 
This means the all the Danish  pair’s results will be nullified. That news will come as a relief to the  English pair as it means they still have a chance to qualify for the  semi-finals despite losing 21-15, 21-14 to China’s Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei
Robertson-Wallwork must now defeat Anugritayawan-Voravichitchaikul on Friday to stand a chance of reaching the final four. 
In Group B, Indonesia’s Vita  Marissa-Hendra Aprida Gunawan are almost certain of reaching the  semi-finals after registering their second consecutive win in the  tournament. 
Following up from their  three-game defeat of Thailand’s Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee  Thoungthongkam, the Indonesians also took three games to beat Poland’s  Robert Mateusiak-Nadiezda Zieba 21-14, 17-21, 24-22.
Mateusiak-Zieba are now out of  the running but Prapakamol-Thoungthongkam kept their hopes alive with a  come from behind 18-21, 21-13, 21-10 victory over South Korea’s Ha Jung  Eun-Ko Su Hyun.
The Koreans, who defeated  Mateusiak-Zieba on Thursday, must now beat Prapakamol-Thoungthongkam to  stand a chance of advancing to the semi-finals.
Asian Games gold medallist  Hendra Setiawan suffered his right knee injury while playing with Markis  Kido in the men’s doubles match against defending champions Jung Jae  Sung-Lee Yong Dae.
The Indonesians, who were  trailing 8-3 at that stage, have not been their usual self in this  tournament and suffered a 21-12, 23-21 loss to world No. 1s Carsten  Mogensen-Mathias Boe (Den) on Thursday.
Mogensen-Boe and Jae Sung-Yong  Dae have qualified from Group B as they have defeated Taiwan’s Fang  Chieh Min-Lee Sheng Mu in earlier matches. The Danish and Korean pairs  will meet tomorrow to decide who top the group.
Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun defeated South Korea’s Ko Sung Hyun-Yoo Yeon Seong 21-14, 21-15 for their second win.
The Koreans next face China’s  Chai Biao-Zhang Nan on Friday to decide who joins the world champions in  the knock-out stage. Kien Keat-Boon Heong will seek to salvage some  pride when they meet Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun in their last group match on  Friday. 
In Group A of the women’s  doubles, world No.1s Cheng Wen Hsing-Chien Yu Chin of Taiwan have  confirmed their semi-final places with a match to spare, after scoring  their second consecutive win with a 21-13, 21-15 victory over  Indonesia’s Greysia Polii-Meeliana Jauhari.
Despite their loss, the  Indonesians can still reach the semi-finals. They face a  winner-takes-all match with Japan’s Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna, who  are also bidding to reach the last four.
Maeda-Suetsuna made up for their  opening match loss to the world No.1s by beating Anastasia  Russkikh-Petya Nedelcheva of Russia-Bulgaria. The only European pair in  the draw have been eliminated after losing their opening two matches.
In Group B, China’s Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang are almost certain of reaching the semi-finals after beating Thailand’s  Duanganong Aroonkesorn-Kunchala Voravichitchaikul  21-10, 21-9.
Only a huge defeat against  Japan’s Mizuki Fujii-Reika Kakiiwa on Friday will prevent them from  progressing. The Japanese are also vying for a place in the last four  while another Chinese pair, Cheng Shu-Zhao Yunlei can also reach the  last four.
