Dec 29: Coaching and training committee reject one of Misbun’s requests – to coach his son, Ramdan.
Dec 31: Misbun sends his resignation letter via e-mail to the BAM and the president, Nadzmi, and exco informed of the matter.
Jan 1: BAM general manager Kenny Goh confirms Misbun’s resignation to The Star.
Jan 2: Chong Wei makes an open declaration that he will follow his coach. BAM council and Malaysian sports fraternity express shock over Misbun’s resignation.
Jan 3: Misbun declines comment. Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and BAM high performance director Datuk James Selvaraj ask Misbun and Chong Wei to put the nation’s interests first.
Jan 4: Nadzmi returns from London. Misbun’s younger brother Rashid says Misbun quit because of internal problems.
Jan 5: Misbun snubs the BAM, declines to comment. Sports minister turns mediator and meets Nadzmi over lunch and Misbun over dinner.
