Rasmussen wants to maintain record

Jonas Rasmussen may have been a world champion, but he has modest goals this year.
The 2003 men's doubles World Championship winner with Lars Passke, has formed a new partnership with up coming Mads Conrad-Petersen and is aiming to reach this year's World Championshis which will be held in London this August.
“I have played in every World Championship since 1999 and it would be nice to maintain this record,” said the 33-year-old Rasmussen, who is 10 years older than his new partner.
“We also hope to qualify for next year's Olympics and I believe my partnership with Mads will be a fruitful one. We have been together only since August but I have a good feeling we can go far.”
The Dane, who hails from Denmark's second largest city – Aarhus – has good reasons to believe in the partnership as they proved what a formidable pair they can be when they captured the Copenhagen Masters in December.
En route to winning the title, they defeated current world No. 1s and compatriots Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen in the final.
“That was a big win for us and we certainly ended 2010 on a high. It was a big confidence boost for Mads and I and I hope we can carry on the good form here at the PROTON Malaysia Open,” said Rasmussen, after the pair defeated Indonesia’s Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung Saputra 21-10, 21-11 in the first round of the season opening OSIM BWF World Superseries tournament at Putra Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday.
“We had a good win today as we dominated our opponents right from the start. They made many mistakes which we managed to capitalise on.
“I’m looking forward to the next match as I feel we have a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals.”
Rasmussen-Conrad-Petersen next play the winner of the Howard Bach-Tony Gunawan and Patipat Chalardchaleam-Nipitphon Puangpuapech.
The other pairs in their half of the draw include top seeds and defending champions Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia and Indonesian third seeds Alven Yulianto-Hendra Gunawan.
