He Hanbin-Ma Jin break Superseries duck

He Hanbin and Ma Jin are among the most successful doubles players on the planet, but surprisingly, they have not won a Superseries title as a partnership, until Sunday.
He Hanbin-Ma Jin and Jiaming Tao-Tian Qing podiumThe Chinese superstars, who between them have captured 12 Superseries titles in the mixed-doubles and women’s doubles, finally ended their drought when they defeated familiar foes in Jiaming Tao-Tian Qing at the Putra Stadium in three hard fought games.
The seventh seeds, who were the crowd favourite, won 21-13, 13-21, 21-16 in 63 minutes to win the opening event of the 2011 OSIM BWF World Superseries.
The pair were only teamed up last year after Ma Jin's regular partner Zheng Bo retired from top flight badminton. Hanbin used to partner Yu Yang and they won the bronze at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 before the partnership was broken up late last year.
“This is our first big win and we are looking forward to more titles in the future. But
I hope the good start to the 2011 season will continue,” said Hanbin after the pair received their winners’ cheque for US31,100.
“We are still trying to adapt to each other’s play and in any new partnership there is always the period of adjustment. And we are going through that period now. That's why it’s important that we have to be patient with each other," said Hanbin.
Ma Jin said: “I hope I can go on partnering Hangbin. I think we have struck up a good combination as proven in the Malaysia Open.”
The tournament’s seventh seeds will head to the VICTOR Korea Open next week and according to Ma Jin, the win in Kuala Lumpur should serve as an impetus for their partnership.
