Ahmad Shabery said he had met Misbun on Satuday night and felt coach was open to the idea of looking for a way to resolve the ongoing problem between both parties.
“I understand that Datuk Misbun and BAM have met to discuss the issue after I got them both together recently and when I met Datuk Misbun on Saturday night, I saw an openness on his side towards resolving the issue.
“The problem is not really a cold war between the two parties (as claimed by some quarters) and I am confident they will be able to put aside their differences and resolve the issue soon,” he told reporters here on Sunday.
He was commenting on the problems that arose after Misbun tendered his resignation via e-mail on Dec 31 citing his unhappiness over certain decisions made by the committee, including turning down his request to train his son Ramdan and several other juniors.
Ahmad Shabery had earlier led about 1,000 cyclists on a 17km ride as part of the Ride 4 Gaza charity cycling event held to raise money for the Palestinians.
He said it was important for Misbun and BAM to place interest of the nation and the sport above all and approach the problem with an open mind and not be led by emotions.
